"What a Red Letter Day we had on National
Adoption Day the 18th! We had a huge Heart Gallery exhibit in one
of the largest and fanciest malls just outside of Honolulu. Hundreds,
maybe thousands poured through the Heart Gallery and most arrived
that day because of the media coverage we built a few days before
the event.
We had over 100 families sign up to become
foster parents and begin the process to become licensed to adopt.
I invited DHS and all local agencies to be
on hand to answer questions and take names and, in shifts, had 8-15
staff on hand that were constantly overwhelmed for the entire 9
hours we were there.
